——————————-

hi everyone!

here is the plan for today at 4PM EST.

  • please check in on iChat at 3:45, if possible, so we can try to get things rollin’ by 4. to do this IM me at screenname: destroyallandrew. If your computer does not have iChat, you can download AIM here.
  • at that time you will receive a screencast link, which will allow you to see my screen and a streaming audio/video link which will allow you to see and hear me. hearing will be far more intersting than seeing. (so, you can just hide the video window behind your other stuff after i say hello)
  • you should also have the Youth Video Exchange Network site open in another tab/window, so you can follow along.
  • if you have questions or miss something use the iChat room to ask questions, and I will respond.
  • it WILL be hectic. PLEASE keep in mind that this is an experiment in screencasting and online training. I promise to get better at it.

Here’s what we will go over:

  • making a profile (complete with a pic)
  • sending private messages to other users
  • create an organizational profile
  • the youthvlog directory and the resource directory
  • compressing video (we will go over 2 methods: streamclip AND the brand new drag n drop YVXN Compression Droplet — thanx to emily from vmx)
  • protocol for naming files
  • sending files with pando
  • creating video entries – AND commenting on them!!

…. and that should be more than enough to keep us busy.

WANT TO GET A HEAD START?

whether you are a seasoned YVXN user or not, some of this might be review. you could check out the installation procedure for the Compression Droplet, if you wanted to get a head start. you could also be sure that you have downloaded and installed Pando (not optional) and Streamclip (optional).
