THE BIG QUESTION: IS IT ALL WORTH IT?? well, i am not sure, but I dont know if there is a better way to find out than to try it... as youth/community media practitioners and advocates we need to organize to keep access on the forefront of experimenting with digital distribution and organize ourselves and colleagues so that we simply know how to share and the value of exchange - the tech will follow and make things even easier.
BUT, IT TAKES SO LONG - isn't it easier to dub a tape and put it in the mail? hm. maybe. keep this question in mind as we evaluate how we use the sharing network we are building. I will return to it later this year, and maybe ask for some numbers ;) with even the simple process we have right now, yes, it may take a while to compress a package of videos, but you CAN compress several hours worth of video over one night. then with the click of a few buttons, you can send them to EVERYONE in the network instantaneously. We have ALREADY improved drastically on the bicycling we have been attempting over the past few years. CONGRATULATIONS. LETS KEEP IT UP!
